Successful recertification to BS EN 9100 for aerospace manufacturer
RHH Franks continues to demonstrate their commitment to the highest levels of quality by successfully passing a recertification audit to BS EN 9100 (AS9100).
This internationally recognised Quality Management System (QMS) is specific to the aerospace industry and is mandatory for any business operating in or supplying to the sector.
The three-day audit was carried out remotely by two BSI (British Standards Institution) auditors due to the pandemic, who reviewed all ten clauses of the quality standard including leadership, planning, operation and improvement.
This is the 17th consecutive year that RHH Franks has passed an AS9100 audit or been recertified since first being accredited in 2004. Prior to this, RHH Franks were accredited to BS5750 before the standard was replaced by the ISO 9000 series.
While AS9100 is an extension of ISO 9001, the aerospace specific standard adds over 100 stringent requirements for businesses in aviation, defining industry-wide good practices and quality management procedures to reduce risk and improve supply chain performance.
RHH Franks have delivered parts, components and assemblies for some of the world’s most advanced aircraft of the time, including the Twin Store Carrier for the Tornado GR4, Concorde, Augusta Westland 159, Hawk, Eurofighter 2000 and Boeing. Clients include Leonardo Helicopters, Eton Aerospace, Cobham and Honeywell.
Quality Manager, Ian Napleton, commented: “We are delighted to be recertified to BS EN 9100 again. It is not only testament to the whole team that our systems and processes meet the requirements and target continual improvement, but also reassures our clients, many of whom are global aircraft manufacturers, that our engineering services are of the highest quality.
“I would like to thank everyone at RHH Franks who assisted in this remote audit. It was certainly a new experience and challenging at times, but the BSI auditors were thorough and professional as always.”
